With a day off built into each of their first two series, the Giants could get creative with their roster construction. Could that provide a path to the roster for Rule 5 catcher/outfielder Blake Sabol? Nobody has been more impressive this spring. But an oblique strain could put Mitch Haniger’s status for Opening Day in jeopardy. The few spots up for grabs - at catcher, in the bullpen - haven’t gained much clarity. The group of 26 that will head to Yankee Stadium on March 30 was pretty well set heading into camp. It’s also time to take another look at the Giants’ roster for Opening Day, a little over two weeks away. It’s just past the halfway point in the Cactus League schedule, which means in this unseasonably chilly spring that the desert temperatures only just climbed above 80 degrees this weekend.
